Our second featured girls are the famous eyewear twin sisters, Coco & Breezy! They took NYC by storm after they moved to the city from their hometown in Minnesota. These girls have such talent in design, as well as a great eye for style! They’ve been hustling effortlessly with their fashionable eyewear and accessories that have been worn by numerous celebs like Amber Rose, Natalie Nunn (Bad Girls Club), Ashanti, Nicki Minaj, Kelly Osbourne, Tila Tequila, & even Queen Bey!
Not only are Coco&Breezy just designers, but they are superb models & have been in spreads in a lot of international and US fashion magazines. They are also a spokesmodel for a rad ass car company over in Europe called “Twizy”! Coco & Breezy are very good role models and do motivational speaking for a couple of organizations! How sweet!

BlackEnterprise.com caught up with the part Black, part Puerto Rican duo at their S/S 2012 New York Fashion Week Private Runway Show. The ladies chatted about the inspiration for their latest collection, what it took to bring their brand to the next level and the importance of investing in yourself.
DIRTY HAS A THING FOR TWINS! THIS TIME, WE RENDEZVOUS WITH TWO TWENTY-YEAR-OLD, SELF-TAUGHT AMERICAN ACCESSORY DESIGNERS FROM MINNESOTA, BETTER KNOWN AS COCO AND BREEZY. ROCKING SIX INCH PLATFORMS AND NEON ACCENTS, THE CONFIDENT DUO TURNED HEADS AS THEY GAVE US A SNEAK PEEK AT THEIR UPCOMING SUNGLASSES COLLECTION RAINY DAYS.
LIKE SEASONED CELEBRITIES, COCO AND BREEZY EFFORTLESSLY WORK THE CAMERA FOR THEIR CLOSEUP IN FRONT OF THE MUSÉE GALLIERA (MUSEUM OF FASHION). IT’S NO SURPRISE THE THE SISTERS HAVE TAKEN NYC BY STORM SINCE THEIR ARRIVAL TO THE FASHION CAPITAL ONLY A COUPLE OF YEARS AGO (IT SEEMS THE CITY STREETS ATTRACT ATTENTION FOR THE GIRLS, AS THEY QUICKLY BECOME THE MUSE FOR MANY PHOTOGRAPHERS AND DESIGNERS AROUND THE WORLD.) THEIR SHADES HAVE SHIELDED THE FACES OF MANY CELEBRITIES—FROM THE LIKES OF POP ICONS LIKE BEYONCÉ, KELLY OSBOURNE, NICKI MINAJ AND CIARA,TO TENNIS PRODIGY SERENA WILLIAMS. THEY’VE BEEN FEATURED IN VOGUE, ELLE, VIBE, FADER, W, PAPER, and THE NEW YORK TIMES.
OUR OUTING WITH COCO & BREEZY CULMINATED IN AN INTERVIEW WHERE WE BROKE BAGUETTES, SAT DOWN FOR A GLASS OF WINE AND UPLIFTING CONVERSATION.
DIRTY: SO, LET’S START OFF WITH THE USUAL QUESTIONS: WHERE ARE YOU LADIES FROM? BREEZY: We’re originally from Minnesota — the suburbs in Minnesota. It’s a non-fashion state, and we’re definitely outsiders from where we’re from. Everybody wears jeans and t-shirts, and that’s actually what made us create sunglasses. People used to stare at us, laugh at us… No one understood our style, and when we created our eyewear collection, it was only for ourselves. We created it so we could block ourselves away from the world.
D: IS IT SUNNY IN MINNESOTA? B: It’s mostly snow. C: Yeah, lots of snow and it’s very cold. B: But we didn’t use [our eyewear] for the sun, we used them for more like… a shade. C: But it was a shade to block people who stared at us. B: We had no idea why people were staring.
Coco && Breezy are usually known for their out-of-this-world shades with gold studs, chains, spikes, and more. This season is quite special, however, as they completely reinvented their style and expanded their brand. This is the first season where they’ve gone from handcrafted designs, to full production with original framing, including the C&&B logo on the frame. The Rainy Days collection also has a special meaning: as models walked the runway to the sounds of rain patter and booming thunder holding umbrella’s, C&&B tell Latasha that the rain represented their tears of being taunted due to being different, and the umbrella represented their shades, which they used as a mask to sheild their pain. Womenswear was provided by Courtney M. Roberts, and menswear Roman’s Closet.
Last night, on the second floor of a private residence near Union Square, NYC, Minnesota wonder twins Coco&&Breezy debuted their new sunglasses collection for S/S 2012.
The twins’ presentation saw models dressed in black walking slowly while holding umbrellas as a soundtrack of thunder and rain played over loud speakers.
The narrative of the show told a story about inhabitants of a world where discrimination is rampant against those who are different. The only comfort the abused have is the Coco&&Breezy sunglasses.
“When you have Coco&&Breezy eyewear on you can see and feel like you are on Planet C&&B. When you take your shades off, every thing on earth is blank space, due to those who are blinded to the future of fashion,” a statement about the collection read.
Overall the presentation was a great one; so much so, that we had to stand on a windowsill to see the show! Video of the show is below and some images from the presentation are in the gallery above.
GlobalGrind spoke to the twins after the show. Here’s what they told us!
GlobalGrind: Can you say a couple of words about NY Fashion Week and what it means to show your collection here?
C&&B:Â Having a show for Fashion Week is all about business, so we gather together the big bloggers, the big magazines and the other tastemakers and celebrities so they can see our new product. It is not a party, it is not an event, it is work.
The concept for the show seems really intense.
Yes, it is. With all of our concepts, when we do design, we always put together something that is new because we are visionary, but a lot of people don’t understand what we go for, so we almost give them an image of our new product. We put you in our own world and then you understand, because we create stuff that if people don’t get it now, they will understand it later.
When can we expect to find your new collection in stores?
Very soon, probably within the next couple of weeks.
